CARLO TORLONTANO
Alphorn Soloist

Guest soloist worldwide on the Alphorn, the Italian musician Carlo Torlontano dedicated most of his time promoting the Alphorn and its traditions as well as repertoire, introducing in the Concert-Hall this instrument mainly known for its use in sending signals throughout the Alpine valley.

On several occasions Mr. Torlontano has performed as a soloist with numerous symphony and chamber orchestras in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and he had been invitated to play in some of the world most prestigious Concert-Hall and International Festival from St. Petersburg Philharmonic to Mainly Mozart Festival (USA), from Philharmonie Berlin to Brisbane Music Festival, from Proms Prague Festival to Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, from Warsaw Philharmonia to Salle de Concert Pollak de Montréal, from Tokyo Muza Symphony Hall to California Center for the Arts, from Casa da Música do Porto to Newport Music Festival (USA), etc.

Moreover in occasion of the 250th Anniversary of W.A. Mozart's Birth, he has been invited to play the Alphorn Concert by Leopold Mozart at the historic Grosser Saal des Salzburger Mozarteums.

He also broadcasted for Italian Radio-TV, RTHK Radio Television Hong Kong, RTV Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Dayton Public Radio and The Lounge San Diego Radio Program.
   
 
     
  Carlo Torlontano has been also for many years the Principal and Solo Horn player with RAI-Italian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra (1986-1992), Teatro di San Carlo in Naples (1993-1997) and the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari (1998-2000).
He also has collaborated with many of the most prestigious conductors among them Abbado, Accardo, Ahronovitch, Berio, Bonynge, Gatti, Gavazzeni, Harding, Koopman, Kuhn, Maag, Maazel, Oren and Semkow.

In 2003 Mr. Torlontano had been invitated at the “Martha Argerich & Friends” where he had the plasure to play with Martha Argerich, the “Andante und Variations” by Robert Schumann for two pianos, two cellos and horn.
He partecipated at the 50th Anniversary of the Italian Republic in Rome and at the G 7 meeting in Reggia di Caserta in the presence of Head of State from the Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and USA on 9 July 1994 (Major, Mitterand, Kohl, Scalfaro, Murayama, Eltsin, Clinton).

Mr. Torlontano is currently Horn Professor at the “G. Martucci” Conservatory of Music in Salerno (Italy), at the Orchestral Stage “F. Fenaroli” in Lanciano and at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale “A. Belli” in Spoleto (2002-2004).
